Bubs 2012

I’ve had the idea of doing a comic about 2012 since 2009, but I only started working on it since April this year. Before I started writing the story, I did some research about different theories about the Mayan prophesies (I wasn’t concerned with accuracy, I used Wikipedia as a source for God’s sake). This comic had more planning than any other cartoon I’ve worked on, with many notes taken on different parts of the story.  The plot is mostly a retrospective of the year 2012 and focuses more on the characters, so the question of whether the world would end or not, is left open-ended until the end of the story. I included every character I’ve created up to this point, though some of them were stuck to bit parts. The drawings are a major improvement over my previous work, as I worked to not only amp up the character drawings, but also worked more with the backgrounds and the overall color. This is the biggest comic power point I've made to date, wiht over 50 slides and more than 350 drawings. To me, this cartoon has been a long time coming, and I hope you enjoy it.

I Kill Da Bub

This story of this comic deals with the Shaitan cartoons I made with my friend, Matt, a while back. The humor of this comic comes from both the videos (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GtFuM_27cMw, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4SCcqEdXutI&feature=relmfu, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Cx6vsdgPHJk&feature=relmfu) and inside jokes about my friends and I.
I almost gave up on this comic seveal times, throughout my time working on it for several reasons. For starters, the plot doesn't really kick in untill about half way through the story, and the drawings at the end of the last scene weren't as good as I wanted them to be. But, since I really liked how some of the drawings came out, I decided to force myself to finish the comic, which looking back I'm glad I did because I think this is one of my better comic power points.

Bubs For President

After my last power point, which was finished in the summer of 2010, I worked on the first three animations for my youtube channel, which featured heavily simplified drawings. So when I started this power point that December, I had to adjust myself back my regular drawing style. I was also working on another project at the time, my fourth youtube video: Shaitan Goes To Therapy. I finished this comic first, so I could have it done by the end of my high school senior year.
As the title implies, Danielowski runs for class president, and in this comic I lampooned politics. This comic also marked the aperance of a new character: Jason Smith, a steriotypical political figure. Originally a one-time character, Jason appeared in some of my later comics, where he was reveiled to be more conservative. This was the only power point I made in 2011.

Napoleonic Bubs

Made in the summer of 2010, this power point revisits the plights of being a midget. What starts off as a fun day at Six Flags, leads to Pedro realizes the short-comings of being short. He, then decides to start a club to help out midgets with the help of the new character, Sparks, who steals the show.
Contrairy to my last comic, which was one of my longest comics, this comic is the shortest. This comic also has more dark humor than my other comics, so be warned. This comic is also the most random, and it has one of my favorite endings.
After this cartoon, I took a break for the rest of 2010, to work on my first three youtube cartoons (http://www.youtube.com/user/BubsCartoons/videos).

Bubs Drug of Choice

Similar to two of my earlier comics, this comic also starts of with an even older comic with the same subject as the main story. Written and drawn between January and May 2010, this comic uses the common childs love of candy to parody drug use. Since I never used drugs, most of the references come from the usual drug clichés that I've seen on tv or heard from my high school.
Unlike all the comics I made up to this point, I didn't have an ending in mind when I started working on the story. I only had a vaugue idea of the plot, and as a result, this comic is alot longer than my other comics. Near the middle of the story, I put in my commentary on how cartoons from  the 2000s and especially now are no where near as good as the ones from the 90s. This comic also has my favorite title and Danielowski head-exploading gag.

Ask Not For Whom The Bub Tolls

This comic was made around the end of 2009 and is one of my favorites. Unlike the stories in my previous comics where the plot were fairly basic and sometimes highly clichéd, the story came from different than what I had been doing. The plot is heavily based off the Hunchback's Tale from the One Thousand and One Nights collection of arabic folk tales. More specifically, it is based off The Tale of The Poor Hunchback from the two-part 2000 British/American Arabian Nights miniseries. (You can find it on netflix, and I recommend you watch it first because the references will make more sense.)
For this comic, I basically kept the same story but replaced all the characters with my own. Tommy's doppleganger from http://bubscartoons.blogspot.com/2012/06/two-bubs-dont-make-right.html returns playing the role of Bac-Bac. The old couple is played by Bim and Harold the Paper Bag Kid (they're not gay, so don't ask). The Doctor and his assistant are played by Lucy and Tommy respectively. The chinese neighbor is played by Danielowski. And the drunk is played by Pedro.
I watched the Arabian Nights video in my sophomore year World Hitsory class, and wrote/drew it about a year later. I even got the girlscout cutaway gag from the teacher of the same class.

A Bub In The Hand Beats Two In The Bush

Also known as "Jack Of All Bubs", I worked on this power point over the summer of 2009 (when Michael Jackson died) and finished it that September. This comic is somewhat of a low-point in all my comics, because I felt like this comic could've been so much more. The main purpose this comic was even written/drawn was to further introduce Danielowski, which, in that case, it succeeded. This is my second comic to have two dirrerent stories at once. The first story deals with Bim and Danielowski at school. The second story deals with Tommy and Harold The Paper Bag Kid in what is a homage (or rip off, if you look at it bluntly) to the Tom and Jerry cartoons. The only problem I had with this imparticular comic was that there wasn't really much of a story, even compared to my older comics. On the flip side, I felt the drawings were starting to get better and the jokes were still good, so it wasn't a total waste.

When Bubs Collide

While this may not be my worst comic, it's definately not one of my best, which I say because I'm looking back at it now, and I can safely say I would have done alot of things different with this comic than I would have back in July 2009. The plot is also pretty thin as it revolves around Danielowski hanging out with the other main characters at Bim's house... and that's really it. While there were some good parts, the story didn't really stick together.

The scene in the middle where Bim talks about whenever people use the word "not" in a question comes from my logic, if that makes any sence. I also made fun of the class of 2008 because they were the seniors during my freshmen year at high school, even though it was the summer after my sophomore year when I wrote it. So what're you doing reading this long-ass intro. Go ahead and look at this crap.

New Bub In Town

My next comic introduces Michael Danielowski, who has remained part of the main cast since. This comic, which I finished in May 2009 at the end of my sophomore year, makes fun of my old high school, and also briefly shows some of the characters' religious views.

Like Father, Like Bub

This next power point revolves around Tommy losing his memory and thinking he's his own dad, who I based somewhat off my dad (what a surprise). This comic was comlpeted in early spring 2009, hence the references to the recession and the DTV transition.

Real Bubs Ware Pink

The plot revolves around the midget character, Pedro, based off one of my school friends who used to be shorter then me. This comic was written during the last few months of 2008, which would explain the references to Honda's Mr. Opportunity (who I still hate to this day), the presidential election, the Ford buyouts, the crappy economy, abd the decreasing gas prices. The flashback scene cane right out of one of my comics from 2007. And any of you who were in elementary school in the late 90s/early 2000s will catch on to the Captain Underpants references.

Two Bubs Don't Make A Right

Similar to the last comic I posted, I started off this power point with an older comic I made back in 2006. The plot of this comic revolves around sibling rivalry, and it also made fun of those daytime phychology shows. I actually watched an episode of Dr. Phil to get an idea for the therapy scenes. While this comic has one of my favotire stories, it definately needed some re-writes because some confusion between the two twin characters: Bim and Jim. While Bim (the kid with the B on his shirt) was basically me, Jim (the kid with the J on his shirt) was sort of my conscience, but mostly a goody two-shoes. As I realized after making this comic, I noticed Jim lacked any personality and was redundant, so this was the last comic that he shows up in. I finished this comic in August 2008, during the Beijing Olympics.

Road Bubs

For whatever reason, I decided to start this power point off with some of my older comics (dealing with road trips) I made back in 2006, which were part of a 2007 calendar I made for my aunt. In this comic (made in July 2008) I tried having two different stories going on at the same time, because I felt like both stories were too weak to stand on their own. In this cartoon, I also introduced the "Pancakes" running joke, which I came up with when I was joking around with one of my friends in eigth grade.

Stick In The Bub

One of my more random and cartoony comics, the story revolves around the school spirit stick, which I always thought was a stupid concept. In this power point, I mocked school spirit and I even threw in a joke about my high school principal at the time, who was named Tracy. The "Plot Hole of No Return" joke was my way of explaining what happened to any of the characters that I got rid of and was planning to get rid of. This comic was made in June 2008, by the end of my freshmen year.

Once A Bub, Always A Bub

Here is the second Bubs Comic Power Point, starring a character bsaed on one of my high school friends. I made this comic around April 2008. With this comic, I tried to put in stuff that I was doing in real life, such as playing badminton in gym class. And before anyone says anything, I know there are a few grammatical errors. Out of all the comics I've made, this one is probably the most violent.

Stuck Between A Bub And A Hard Place

Here is the first Bubs Comic Power Point. I made it back early 2008, so the writing and the drawings look kind of crappy to me now. I never liked the cliched "all-the-characters-are-stuck-in-a-small-space" plotline, but, for whatever reason, I decided to use that same plotline for my characters.

First Post

Here's the first in a (hopefully) long line of posts of my comics.

Soon, I hope to upload entire comic power points for your enjoyment.
